Inspectors shall have a minimum of ten (10) years industry experience together with a trade or higher qualification in a related discipline and knowledge of the applicable codes for piping and pressure vessel construction and certification. Inspectors shall have as a minimum recognition as an inspector through an organisation such as CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2,American Welding Society (AWS) or the Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA).For inspection of pressure equipment in Australia the requirements of AS 4481 Pressure Equipment – Competencies of Inspectors, AS3920 Pressure Equipment – Conformity Assessment and AS 3788 Pressure Vessel Equipment – In service inspection shall be taken into consideration when selecting inspectors.

Inspectors shall be competent in the requirements for electrical inspection in the country where the items inspected will be used. - (Australia) For inspection of equipment in non-hazardous areas electrical inspectors shall be a licensed electrician with knowledge of the applicable standards and have a minimum of ten years industry experience or satisfy the requirements of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) criteria for Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) Master.
