NACE International has officially opened the new NACE International Training Center. The $2.4 million facility is the nation’s first freestanding training center dedicated exclusively to advancing corrosion education.
NACE members, staff, and esteemed guests assembled on a beautiful January day to mark the grand opening of the NACE International Training Center. Remarks were made by Tony Keane, Executive Director, Bob Herbert, 2008-2009 NACE International President, and Dr. Neil Thompson, NACE Foundation President.
A special proclamation from the office of U.S. Representative John Culberson was also presented at the ceremony, congratulating NACE International on its efforts for advancing corrosion prevention education.
Following a ribbon cutting and champagne toast, guests had the opportunity to tour the 15,000-square facility, which features a cathodic protection test field with buried, electrified pipelines; a coatings lab with a blast and spray booth; a virtual spray booth for classroom-based applicator training; an equipment preparation area; and the nation’s only marine ballast tank immersion tent, which simulates a ship’s ballast tank for shipboard corrosion assessment training.
“This training center will help develop the next generation of skilled workers,” said Tony Keane, executive director, NACE International. “We will prepare them for a comprehensive career in corrosion and help open the doors for job opportunities and greater earning potential.”
NACE International and the NACE Foundation would like to recognize the following major donors, whose support made this facility a reality.
